Peter MacKennan

Production Coordinator

Peter began making and performing puppets at age seven. In 1985, he began working with designer Kermit Love, producing puppets for educational & commercial television, film, and theatre.

Hired by the Jim Henson Company in 1987, Peter worked on Sesame Street for six seasons, receiving two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design. He performed periodically, often assisting principal Muppet performers. He was Assistant Workshop Supervisor on the films Muppet Christmas Carol & Muppet Treasure Island and Workshop Supervisor on Season One of Jim Henson’s Animal Show. In addition to building featured characters and props for these and other productions, he worked as a photo stylist, participated in seminars, and installed and serviced Henson Exhibits in the U.S., Canada, and Japan.

Peter was a Creative Director in the International Products Group at Sesame Workshop from 1998 to 2006, and Creative Director/Senior Creative Director at HIT Entertainment from 2006 to 2007, before joining Puppet Heap in 2008.

Peter is a member of SAG/AFTRA. He also a fine artist, with an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Yale University.
